How to Style a Photo Shoot

It’s a great idea to come up with a wardrobe and props to bring along to a photoshoot. Don’t forget hair accessories, and scoping out great settings and backdrops. Sit down and brainstorm creative poses a theme, or a story line you can act out during your shoot. Your photographer will have plenty of ideas, but it doesn’t hurt to come up with your own ahead of time, too!

For this one with my hubby, I thought it would be cute to play a game of telephone, with a rope curled into a heart-shape:

I had the idea after I watched this cool video. Inspiration is everywhere you look!

We then *tried* to capture the essence of one of my favorite music videos of ’09, Chasing Pavements by Adele. We had so much fun as we rolled around on the pavement:

Try choosing a favorite book and propping rings inside it. A heart-shadow will magically appear! The book is my husband’s copy of Vivir para contarla. He is a Spanish teacher.

Try playing a game of human shadow puppets by getting in just the right position to create some pretty amazing images:

His shadow proposed!

Did you have fun styling and planning your engagement photo shoot? Did you find inspiration from any music videos or other sources?
